Our Journey
First step
How did we uncover the essence of the ApiNation brand?
We researched the target audience, analyzed competitors, and explored how people perceive the brand. Combining insights with proven brand positioning strategies, we generated several creative directions and presented them for consideration, laying the foundation for a strong, differentiated brand identity.
Design insight: The original design lacked a distinctive glyph and was just a basic logomark. Our goal was to pair the logomark with a logotype that communicates the brand’s values and builds clear visual associations with ApiNation.
Second step
How were the first creative ideas brought to life?
Our first concepts combined key brand values, starting as sketches that paired a minimalistic glyph with a text mark. We delivered 10 initial ideas and 5 refined options, each accompanied by a story and strategic rationale, giving ApiNation clear directions for the new visual identity.
Design insight: We explored ideas connecting integration, automation, connection, building, real estate, and puzzles. The challenge was to make the logotype clear yet interesting, avoiding visual overload while conveying the brand’s core concepts.
Third step
How did we shape the final brand identity?
After multiple feedback iterations testing logomark styles, color shades, and typography, ApiNation’s internal team selected the final option. We then ensured proportions, colors, and fonts were scalable and consistent, preparing the brand for a seamless transition into the brandbook creation phase.
Design insight: The winning design features a block-based letter “A” as the first letter of the text logo, with a segment moved out. It represents assembling pieces of a larger puzzle to achieve integration and automation. The outlined logo symbol evokes wires connecting dots and transmitting data, reinforcing the technological essence of ApiNation.
Fourth step
How was the new brand system documented and structured?
We compiled the new brand identity into a comprehensive 24-page brandbook, covering logo usage rules, color palette, typography, brand principles, and values, ensuring consistency across all platforms and future scalability.
Design insight: The brandbook visually demonstrates correct logo proportions, color applications, and font hierarchy, while providing guidance on sales decks, digital assets, and other marketing materials, so the ApiNation team can apply the brand immediately and consistently.
Fifth step
How did the new identity come to life in the real world?
We applied the refreshed brand identity to real-world assets, designing 5 fully branded sales presentations that follow the brand guidelines, using the new style, fonts, and colors to elevate ApiNation’s visual presence.
Design insight: Each sales deck includes custom infographics to help the sales team explain ApiNation’s complex solutions. Using connecting lines, block elements, brand colors, and typography, the visuals reinforce the brand identity while making information clear, structured, and engaging.
